Hormann have a reputation for excellent mechanisms and build quality. Hormann wooden garage doors are available in a large range of standard sizes.

Cedar Door Range

Cedar Door, based in Derbyshire, have been making solid timber garage doors for over 20 years. They produce numerous styles of door complementing properties of all types, both new and old.

All doors are made-to-measure at no extra cost. The up and over Cedar Doors are available from 6ft to 18ft in width and the side hinged from 6ft to 10ft in width. Most doors are retractable, but canopy mechanism is available on doors up to 8ft wide.

All Cedar Door products are manufactured from the highest quality Western Red Cedar, which is attractive, strong, light and naturally rot resistant - the ideal timber for a garage door.

Solid Cedar frames are also available from Cedar Door.

All the cedarwood used by Cedar Door is from sustainable forests. Cedar Door is a family run business, which has grown dramatically in the past 7 years. They manufacture all the Hormann timber garage doors for Hormann in the U.K.

Cedar Door have various distinct ranges;

1. Traditional Boarded and Traditional Solid Panelled - Traditional morticed and tenoned solid cedar frame into which is bonded either tongue and grooved cedar boarding or 20mm thick solid cedar panelling. Certain models in this range are available with an inbuilt wicket door.

2. Traditional Panelled - Again, a solid morticed and tenoned frame, in filled with 9mm cedar faced plywood panels.

3. Traditional Side Hinged - Cedar Door is one of the very few garage door manufacturers who produce a very high quality made-to-measure side hinged range of garage doors. Available from 6ft to 10ft in width. Come complete with a choice of ironmongery.

4. Sherwood Range - These doors are constructed from a black powder-coated aluminium boundary frame with steel bracings to reinforce the panel, making it strong and stable. An economical way to buy a timber door. A fine, black, metal edge is visible around the edge of the door, when viewed from the front.

5. Sectional - A high quality made-to-measure product. Traditional quality door construction, combined with the security and reliability of a sectional door mechanism.

Cedar Doors come with Sikkens basecoat as standard, but can come bare, if requested. Also available is a fully finished option - one of 9 colours can be chosen. This then makes the door maintenance free for up to 5 years.

Cardale Range

When the original Cardale Group broke up in 2009/2010 the timber garage door factory became independent of the Group. Cardale currently buy in their wooden garage door panels from this independent manufacturer called Woodrite. Cardale manufacture the Canopy and Retractable gear mechanisms and the steel bracing used in the construction of the wooden garage door panels. The Cardale timber door range is a much smaller range than pre 2009 but quality is high and turnaround quick. Supplied with basecoat treatment as standard. Four fully finished colours available. Multi-latch security locking system as standard. The Cardale maximize retractable gear is easy to fit, reliable, and as the name suggests maximizes the drive through width. Available un-framed or pre-framed on a fully finished painted or plastisol coated steel "goalpost" frame.

Hormann Range

Now Europe 's leading garage door manufacturer. Hormann Garage Doors have an excellent reputation for quality, safety and security.
They are the market leaders for sectional garage doors, which are the best on the market. The timber doors for the U.K. market are manufactured in two stages. Stage one in Germany which is the manufacture of the steel chassis. Stage two in Derbyshire where the cedar boarding and plywood panelling is added to the chassis to make the completed product. As a result of this production method, only standard sizes are available. Also, a neat half inch brown perimeter is evident all the way round the edge of Hormann timber garage doors. This is the edge of the steel chassis. The benefits of this construction method are rigidity, strength, reliability and Hormann's world famous quality control.

The high quality, well engineered, Hormann canopy and retractable door mechanism and locking come as standard on the whole range. Hormann make a very high quality timber sectional garage door in Nordic Pine or Hemlock. Made exclusively to order in Germany, lead times are 6 to 9 weeks. New out in 2006 were the steel Hormann Decograin up and over doors. These doors give a realistic timber look but at only about 60% of the cost of timber. Available in Golden Oak and Rosewood.

The Hormann Promatic and Supramatic electronic remote controls have 5 year guarantees, rolling code security, soft start / soft stop and are easy to install. They come as standard with 2 handsets and built in courtesy light.

Woodrite

Woodrite garage doors set up in 2010 using experienced staff, knowhow and equipment from the Old Cardale Group when it was split up. Having had years of experience running the wooden garage door factory for Cardale a number of staff made the bold and brave move of setting up Woodrite Doors. Woodrite buy in the tried and tested Cardale lifting mechanisms (Safelift Canopy and maximizer Retractable). They also use Cardale steel frames on all doors ordered pre-framed. Woodrite are not just a Cardale door made under a different name. Quality control is higher, the construction method has been improved and bespoke designs and customer requests are all responded to quickly and positively. The new wood stain lacquer used is a much improved German dip/spray system, all end grain is sealed against water ingress (a problem Cardale used to have) and lead times are short, even for made to measure doors. Woodrite offer the solid cedar Coach House Buckingham range and the cedar faced plywood Coach House Somerset range. The York range is the side hinged range of wooden garage doors. In April 2012, Woodrite launched their idigbo range of garage doors. A stable, cheaper alternative to Oak.
