Hormann have a clever solution to being able to offer wooden garage doors in an endless choice of timbers
build your own on a Hormann Open For Infill (OFI) timber garage door chassis. Made from strong powder coated steel the Hormann OFI is available in a wide range of sizes from 7' 0 to 14' 0 wide. It provides a garage door frame, locking and mechanism onto which can be added the timber of your choice. The planking must weigh between 6 and 10 Kg. per square metre and the timber used to plank the door should be dry, stable and then well preserved against the elements.
Hormann garage doors offer a wide range of timber doors constructed in the UK using the OFI as the door chassis. They are Western Red Cedar from managed rain forests. The strong steel frame and light stable Cedar result in a well balanced attractive garage door that will give years of service. Available in a clear basecoat or a wide range of Sikkens fully finished woodstain colours. The Hormann, and Garador (who are owned by Hormann) timber garage doors are all constructed in this way and have a neat, but visible, dark brown perimeter of approx.1/2 all round the edge of the door. Some doors in Cardales Futura range also feature this brown metal perimeter. Most Cardale Futura range doors, all the Heritage range and all of the Cedar Door traditional door range are specifically constructed so that when viewed form the front no metalwork is visible at all.
Cedar Door manufacture their traditional range in the traditional way with no metal sub-frame. A traditional Mortice and Tenon construction method is used on their garage doors without the aid of modern metal fastenings etc. All Cedar Door garage doors are made to measure from

Hormann and Cedar Door are the only manufacturers to offer sectional garage doors constructed in wood. Hormann manufacture their doors in Germany out of Hemlock or Nordic Pine.
Cedar Doors sectional range is available up to 18' 0 wide. A wide variety of styles and Sikkens woodstain finishes are available.
Cedar Door can offer side hung timber garage doors, and indeed their up and over doors, with an integral Wicket or Pedestrian door.
Cardale also make wooden side hung traditional opening out garage doors. They come pre-hung on a neat steel frame in various finishes and sizes.
